Finding Fabrics for our Lolli Ladies Golf Clothes

Lolli Wear Golf Wear - the search for fabricsFinding fun and bright fabrics for our Lolli Ladies Golf Clothes has been quite a challenge at times. I commenced having the clothes made in Indonesia and the first problem was the language barrier. Where do I start to find fabrics in a country where I can’t communicate in their language?

Once I eventually found a large fabric store and the fabric markets, how do I explain to them about the type of fabrics I actually do want.

The fabric markets are the most interesting, and to start with, more challenging. There are several streets of little shops selling fabrics. As I wandered along trying to find stretchy fabrics every store owner claimed to have stretchy fabrics and I would wander into their little stores only to find fabrics that would be best used for tablecloths, especially if you wanted that freshly starched cardboard look for your tablecloth.

After a lot of false starts I found a fantastic little store with bright, bold coloured stretchy patterned fabrics. Soon to be, my new best friends. It’s a father & son team who run this store and they understood what I wanted and continually paraded new fabrics.

When they do their fabric orders they now consider what I might like and send me pictures of fabrics they have ordered which they think will suit Lolli.

Lolliwear Golf Wear - Fabric StoresThroughout the fabric finding adventure I have purchased a few lengths of fabric which are not suitable, either wrong stretch, incorrect colour match and various other reasons. Some of these fabrics are now being used for the Lolli drawstring bags for shirts and skorts and the other fabrics are hopefully being used to make clothes for young Indonesian children.

Lolli now has many fabric suppliers and we have tried to find some great fabrics that will make you stand out from the crowd, we don’t want to mass produce the same colour or pattern so we have limited the amount of fabric we buy in any particular colour or pattern.

We have found some new fabrics suppliers in China and they are bold and bright and girlie for Summer 2016/2017.
